Mens Health Magazine
As major sponsor and organizer of last summer’s Ocean Racing series
held throughout Australia, Men’s Health wanted merchandise to sell and be worn
in the event.
The series includes six races involving craft that can be
paddled – surf skis, kayaks and outrigger craft. The races were held in
Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and the Sunshine Coast and attracted beginners to
world champions.
Merchandise needed to reflect the healthy image of the
masthead, which is Australia’s top selling health and lifestyle magazine for men
– and the race vests needed to be able to withstand the rigors of ocean racing.
As well as be colourful and functional. The products provided fit the
brief perfectly.
Each race entrant paid a fee and was given a singlet to
complete – extras were sold as merchandise, while the slim fit t-shirt in both
short and long sleeves were printed with various logos and were a popular
merchandise item as well.
Event director Sherene LaGasse from Murdoch
Magazines says the garments met their requirements of high quality and visual
effectiveness – all within budget. ”The racing vests were a marked
improvement on our previous year’s garment … (and) the t-shirt merchandise
proved to be popular and met our sales expectations,” she said. “I would highly
recommend our t-shirts and racing singlet as I felt the product was
outstanding.”
What the judges said:
- Singlets and t-shirts were excellent quality products
with consistency and exceptional branding
- The promotional company put much consideration into
the product for the event, and tested them for the difficult conditions of the
race before selling them to the client
- Success rate of people wearing the products and the feedback
they received described the apparel as exceptional.
